The normal range for kids to toilet train is between 18 months and 3.5 years.
Some children are ready to train that early and some are not. Never force the issue or try to do it before they are showing signs of readiness.
However there are ways to encourage them to be interested in the toilet and their wees and poos.
My little boy is almost three and when he was about 18 months old we bought him a potty and put it where he played. I told him what it was for and left it at that. He explored it fully clothed and at his own pace. We also let him into the bathroom to watch us on the toilet, help us flush the toilet etc. I would talk about what I was doing on the toilet and even where poo came from. I did the same thing when I was changing his nappy and I would tell him and ask him if he was doing a poo or wee whenever he got that face. :)
When he was about two years and three months he was showing signs of readiness and so we started with the actual training. We showed him the potty again and told him what it was for. We took his undies and pants off and told him he could use it if he wanted. After a couple of weeks he was using it regularly at home, with the occasional accident.
He is three in August and was doing great until we moved house a few months ago. I think the move upset him and now we are back to square one.... but I'm not sure if he's just being lazy or not.
When they have accidents just calmly and quietly clean him up. When he succeeds, give lots of praise (even if they just sit on the potty/toilet and do nothing). He will sit down at first for wees but at around 3-4 years if he has the hang of it you can start trying to teach standing up.
There are lots of great websites out there to look out. Baby center has some great info on toilet training including when to tell if your child is ready or not.
Good luck!! :)

Hey(: x
18 months is not to early at all to start potty training, some parents even start earlier. But what you should do is in the morning as soon as he wakes up or if he wakes up during the night, right after eating, before bed and anytime that he usually pees/poops place him on the potty, stay there with him for about 2-3 minutes, and tell him to go poop/pee in there. Also tell him there will be rewards if he goes in the potty eg. rent a movie, fav dinner, etc.
Good Lucks(: x

Being smart and catching on to things quickly is different than his body physically be ready for using the potty all the time.
You certainly can introduce a potty seat to him and show him what a potty is for but I wouldn't expect him to be fully out of diapers for a while. Most boys tend to be 2 1/2 to 3 years old when the are capable of using the potty fulltime.
You may just try asking him if he wants to sit on the potty before his bath. He may or may not want to sit and he may or may not pee sometimes but he'll get familiar with it. If he takes to the idea, you can try more frequently.
You know when they are ready for the potty fulltime when they let you know before they go that they need to or they will head to the potty on their own. Until then, I wouldn't push it.

18 months is lovely younger. Just have the potty sitting there, in order that they get used to it being round, however dont actively begin the potty coaching til summer season. It will take a ways longer and be way more irritating for all of you if you happen to attempt to do it too quickly. Once the women are capable, it will have to simplest take a few weeks to be knowledgeable, exceptionally in best climate whilst they may be able to run across the condo in part dressed!

In some ways it is possible to potty train a baby at 18 months. Just to let you know that there is a little fact in babies that the whole world is not aware of...Babies are actually ready to potty train when they are ready to communicate. I personally think the earlier you can potty train them the better off they are.
I started potty training my son when he was 21 months old as did parents did me and my siblings. When he just turned 25 months he was completely potty trained (At 24 1/2 months he got to where he loathed diapers).
Now with boys it is better to teach them to pee sitting on the potty before standing, I think that after a boy is completely potty trained for a month then it is time to teach them to stand to pee but I wouldn't teach a boy to stand until he is at least 26 months. It should only take them a month to master standing to urinate. However, my son did not learn to stand to pee until he was 28 months old and did not have it completely mastered until 31 months with me being his only potty trainer.
If your child is ready then let them have at it.
