The reason atheists respond in this area is that each person (both atheist and theist) thinks that his understanding is the correct version.

When others show they have a different conviction, there is a natural urge to correct and convince them. The receivers of the correction have the same urge to oppose and reject the revision.

Since the listener is already convinced he is correct, convincing him about religion (for or against) is extremely difficult and is usually unsuccessful.

(This results in the “Cassandra Syndrome”. Mythical Cassandra was given the gift of foreknowledge and later punished with the curse of no one believing her warnings. The syndrome is the feeling that your group or you alone know the truth.)

The only beliefs that can be impossible are those held by OTHER people.

Personally, I don't think there are gods. I don't feel it in my gut. However, I don't know either way. So, I think it is always worth it to study. It is the same reason many people started evolution studies. They didn't think it existed and accidentally proved themselves wrong. It is all a part of science. Theory, research, experimentation, recreating results and publishing findings. That's what science is. Without doubt and attempts to prove/disprove things there would be no proof of anything.

I was a christian and have never had anything against the bible. I only quote it if someone misquotes it or asks for a quote, because I do know a lot of them.

Why does it matter to you? It doesn't bother me that many theists try to prove their gods.

Why so blind to what causes the backlash against christianity?

ALL the other religions and atheists live in peace and are ONLY attacked by BAD christians which causes all GOOD christians to despair at the damage they do!

Up until about 40 years back Christianity was thriving and there was no conflict with others but in just those few short years the modern christians have become intolerant, hate filled, bigoted and persecuting resulting in a growing backlash against christianity and causing christianity to loose over ten percent in less than a decade with the loss accelerating!

The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only thing that can stop it is to abandon the terrible human emotions, seek to rediscover the idea of a loving god and act like it!

Frankly I feel sorry for you guys. It is wonderful to have broken free from

religion. It’s like breaking up with a girl who kept giving you headaches.

You don't belive in the Muslim god I take it since you call him god and not Allah...so what if a Muslim kept pestering you to believe in his god, that his was the one true god and you would face eternal torture and damnation if you did not believe in him. For all I care pick anyone of the other thousands of gods worshiped and have that belife forced on you. While you have your own beliefe so do they, but that does not stop Christians from trying to foce there beliefe on others. Sure they sugar coat it and call it spreading the word, but when some one does not believe the same as you and you continure to force what you believe on them they retaliate. Why does it bother Athiests about things in the bible, because Christians keep trying to force it into schools, into law and into the everyday life of everyone in this country. They seem to think it is only freedom of religon if it is there religon.

We don't, and no one cares to disprove a god any more than leprechauns.

I know the word of god *cough* man *cough* is, as I've read the bible cover to cover. It's nonsense that's been rewritten, edited and translated into dead languages countless times, hence Christianity is logically impossible.

Many atheists are bothered by what's in the bible because of what it teaches Christians. And many atheists live in areas dominated by Christians, so misteachings in the bible are important to them.

How am I trying to disprove it? I only state what I believe. I don't say you must believe like I. So why does it bother you that I don't share your belief?

Conversely, God must exist in theist minds, as per your line of thinking.

Now, regarding the rest of your question, questioning religion is allowable and enjoyable.

I have no desire to disprove God, just refute idiotic claims about how the world is 6K years old and gays are evil.
