Is this normal for parties?

I went to this party which lasted from around 12pm to 3 am. Basically all day. I did notice something though. Everyone at the party was constantly changing cloth. They changed cloth and shoes a minimum of 3 times. Especially the girls. It seemed like they were wearing something different every 3 hours and it wasn't just one person. Is this normal? Is there some going trend or something that I don't know about?

Update:

@the DT.. Sorry, I meant clothes*

@ MICHAEL R I'm pretty sure it wasn't a oddball theme party.

@ Chelsea .. That's what I thought

@ Robynn I think that must be it, because it was a pretty hot and long day. What seemed strange are the changes in the night. They all seemed uncomfortable and glamorous. I got the impression that they were too self conscious.

@ Misty . It was a pretty long party. It didn't exactly start from 12pm. It was more like from 2pm and on. Just giving time for people to come at their pace. Kids played around, we ate, busted a piniata, and so on in the day. Once the night hit, it was dancing, drinking, and playing beer pong ect. Was not weird at all.

    Have never heard of it. the only thing I can think of because of the time and length of party that perhaps the girls went from warm day/casual to dressing up nicely for the night/dancing bit to then ditching for warmer or more comfortable clothes in the early hours.

    Lets us all know if you find out

    how can a party last from 12 noon until 3 am

    that's a long party! What did you do for that long?

    Seems tiring unless you were drinking, playing quarters

    and riding around the block harassing neighbors

    then rolling around in the yard laughing your azz off...

    having a fire, ghost chasing and whatever.

    Its not normal. That was a strange party.

    Apparently you were not informed of the oddball theme of the party, that of changing clothes.

    * Clothes

    I have never heard of this unless it was a pool party or other activity that required different clothes.
