How do you get rust off of cast iron?

I have some cast iron skillets from cracker barrel that were given to me 11 years ago. I hung them on the wall as decoration in my kitchen. Now they have rust all over them. I have scrubbed them with hot soapy water and a scouring pad but some of the rust did not come off. How do you get the rust off of cast iron?

You need steel wool, such as SOS or Brillo pads. Dry thoroughly and then rub mineral oil into them, to keep them from immediately rusting. If you are planning on using them, you need to season them after removing the rust and washing them. Here's some excellent pointers for cast iron care.
