why is hydration good for people with sickle cell anemia?

i'm guessing it'll lower blood viscosity or help regulate O2 levels??

    "Dehydration can trigger blood flow to slow down, which may cause a painful event in a person with sickle cell disease."

    In other words, being hydrated helps blood flow more smoothly and thereby preventing or relieving pain in a person with sickle-cell.
