Bearded dragon larger tank?
My beardie is currently in a 20 gallon long. When I first got him I had him in a 10 gallon, but after about 2 weeks I decided it should have been larger so that's when I got my hands on the 20. So yesterday I filled the 10 gallon with my new adition, a pastel ball python. My plans eventually are to upgrade my bearded dragons tank to a 55, and use the 20 my dragons in for my ball python as an adult.
My question is, at what point should I upgrade from the 20 to the 55? The beardie is only 2 months old right now, and the BP is only a couple weeks old so I've got time there. My beardie is maybe 5 inches right now, so when should I upgrade from the 20 to the 55? I don't really want to spend more money on another 20 when I'll have that one free once I upgrade the bearded dragon. So at what length should I get my beardie a 55? And how long would you presume it would take for him to attain that length. He doesn't appear to have grown much in the month I've had him. Thank you.

When he is about 8 inches tail included I would move him to the 55, and it really depends on the diet he is on. Obviously a higher protein diet would make him grow faster. But the pastel should b in the 10 gallon till about 600 grams which should take about 9 months with average feeding. And by then your beardie will b well over 8 inches. The beardie will grow much faster than the ball.

That tank might be a nice measurement for a bearded dragon. Although, for a little one, I might now not use it, or a minimum of get a tank separator. (ensure that your tank could be very blank and disinfected earlier than you utilize it for the beardie!) The toddlers have a tendency to get burdened out with an excessive amount of area. If you get a child that is below 10 inches, simply get a transitority 20gallon, or separate a facet of your tank to resemble that measurement. As for being approached from above, it depends upon your beardie. Mine does not get burdened out from me opting for it up from above. I have a reptile tank that has the slide in display best. They additionally say to scoop them up from their bellies by way of putting your hand below them after which opting for them up. They wont think like they're falling that method. To get a 'little one' used to you, you ought to be very sufferer. They are very skiddish and can want a while adjusting to you touching it. Start out by way of delivering hand fed meals so it will possibly observe that you are now not a danger. Do that for a whilst, till it'll take meals with no hindrance. Then you would probably take a look at preserving it (within the tank) within the palm of your hand. After it will get used to that, begin bringing it external the tank for extraordinarily brief durations of time. Just bear in mind that this would possibly not occur proper off the bat. It will take a little time. Talk lightly and flippantly, they may be able to pay attention you. Do now not make unexpected routine so one can make him/her scatter.
