Is demanding that legislators actually read bills reasonable? If not, why?

    That was an idea that was put out to make you think no one knew what they were voting on. When they have a big bill the usual thing is to have several people look at it and get rid of the legalese and give the congressman the synopses, unless of course its a partisan bill, then no one reads it, its done for effect only.

    These bills are usually in excess of 900 pages, so reasonably no they couldn't possibly keep up with something like that. Why don't you read one or two 900 page books a week? It should be the writers responsibility to make it short, sweet and to the point.

    if that was a requirement, too many legislators would fail at that or fall asleep, that government would cease to exist.
