Who would you rather have on your team, Calvin Johnson or Darrelle Revis?
Personally, I'm taking Revis. If you've got Rodgers/Brady/Brees, an elite quarterback that can consistently throw a perfect ball, there's no need for a Goliath to snag balls through triple coverage. When are any of those guys ever going to throw a ball into triple coverage? They're always going to read the defense, see the field, and place a rocket to whichever receiver has been neglected by the coverage. Megatron can catch a ball thrown anywhere in his area code, so what? An elite quarterback won't give him an opportunity to make a circus catch, the ball will always be right where it's easiest to grab.
Darrelle Revis will always be a valued commodity. He eliminates his man from the game entirely. No matter the quarterback, no matter the receiver, that wideout will not be a factor all game. Being able to send one player to effectively remove any receiving threat from the game immediately makes stopping an offense much much easier.
@Greg:
Darrelle Revis is not a consistent player and Calvin Johnson is? Johnson literally did not do a thing against the Minnesota Vikings (week 14), the worst secondary in the entire league. Both are obscenely consistent for their positions.

Revis is not a consistent enough player, so I'll go with Megatron.

I'll go with Darelle Revis, as much of a beast and legend that Calvin Johnson is the talent level between him and other great none tier 1 receivers out there isn't nearly as large as the disparity between Revis and even the 2nd best corner in the game. While Calvin is a big play player and can really carry an offense his production is still limited to what his QB can do on the other hand Revis can single handily remove a player from the game which gives the rest of the defense a lot more flexibility.

It really depends on the other WR's or cornerbacks on the team, and who is the quarterback. You could argue that Calvin Johnson is the most dominant player in the league on offense, while Revis is for defense. It's really just a matter of whether you would rather have a great offense or a great defense. Calvin Johnson immensely helps your offense because he will attract all of the attention from a defense, and if you have a legitimate #2 option and a run game, boy would that offense be unstoppable. Darelle Revis does so much for a defense, literally shutting half the field down. This allows you to put more men in the box to blitz, as not as many players are needed in coverage. You never have to worry about double teaming a WR, Revis shuts him down for you. Because the NFL is now a passing and offensive league, I would take Calvin Johnson, but this one is close.

I would take Johnson if I had to choose. To me, Revis is a bit overrated and helped a lot by a very blitzing defense. But it goes beyond that. Revis is clearly a holdout issue in just about any off-season, Calvin Johnson on the otherhand doesn't come across as a "me first" player.
I would much rather have a quality CB than a WR, because quality WR's can be found anywhere, and a great QB can make even an average WR look good. But if we are just talking about these 2 specific players, then I will avoid the headache and take Johnson.

Darrell Revis. Brady can still perform without Megatron, no doubt. But that Pats defense was looking pathetic last season. Revis might do some good.

Calvin Johnson, He is continually double covered, yet continues to come down with the ball when Stafford sends it his way. MegaTron is responsible for about 35% of the Lions total scoring last season . Calvin's leading competition for title of NFL's best receiver, Andre Johnson was responsible for only 11% of his team's total scoring.

this is a joke of a question. revis. the chances of finding a receiver like cj is a lot more likely to happen than finding a shut down corner of revis' caliber. anyone who has played corner or wide out at any point know its harder to defend a wide out than being the wide out.
@ greg- until stafford started, everyone considered him an underachiever and was for a good portion of his early career. and while the qb situation doesnt help, there are a lot more receivers like larry fitzgerald who are qb friendly and make plays to help out the qb to find open space. revis has always been a 1 man buzz saw.

I'll take Calvin Johnson over Revis everytime, without question. Revis is good but not a shut down corner, he was exposed last year.
