What to say on a follow-up call for a job application?
I had a job interview at a kid's play area 2 days ago, and the girl who interviewed me took my number and said she would ring me the following day. That was 2 days ago and she still hadn't rang me. I think I should ring her up to follow it up, but I'm really shy and don't really know what to say

You can call and ask casually, just say something along the lines of : "hi its 'your name' you interviewed me about the play area supervisor job on Wednesday? yes I just wondered if you had been trying to get in touch with me about it, I've been really busy"
That is a way of prompting her to follow up, without accusing her of forgetting or being incompetent.
