Need help with question on job application?
I have a question for a job application that I'm having a tough time answering.
The question is: "What can you contribute to a team that makes you stand out from others?"
The thing is, my unique contribution varies based on the team that I'm working with. Being a good listener can make me stand out for one team, but be very commonplace in different group. Any ideas?

This question is kind of pointless, as standing out from others is not a proper evened team work.
but since the point here is not really to see what you can do, it is in fact to see how you THINK, what your answer is can reflect a lot about who you are and what you think of others and yourself, regardless of what the context of the answer really is, keep that in mind.
i think i would go with
"I have good communication and social skills that can increase the moral and confidence of the team,
i am capable of listening and logically analyzing the given scenarios and come up with an effective resolution \ solution,
i have a high awareness to the state of others, and when i can pull back up people who lose motivation to make sure we all progress effectively and productively as one team"
it is really general and it may vary greatly based on what team we're talking here and on what field of work, but think of things along these lines, present how you do things that make you both a valuable member to a team, but at the same time, these qualities pull the team and takes it to new and better places, your values and efforts that makes you stand out, are the same values that glue the team together and make you the listening ear and the hand that pulls others to work as one unit, one team.

Ask yourself what kinds of qualities would be important in this particular job. If you are working with consumers, you would need to be a good listener, calm in tense situations and able to stand firm when a customer makes an unreasonable request. Once you have outlined the qualities the position requires, you can compare them to the qualities you possess and emphasize those qualities.
