My pc broke down. what the prob could be?

Hi, my pc is 4 yr old. It has gigabyte motherboard GA-MA78GM-S2H and AMD athlon x2 processor. I was using Windows 7 x86. The sceen shook and speakers made some sound like distortion or spark. And i saw a blue screen, which is i think windows error screen. Then it got off.

Since then, when i start cpu, light glows, fans starts. But i cannot see the startup screen. I'm software expert and i can't do anything without the startup screen.

I these yrs, i've seen the blue screen many times bt nt a prob like this. How can i troubleshoot this, or i need to go to expert?

I don't want to loose data on my hd, its vry imp.

Some cables of you power supply might of slipped, or maybe part of it is failing or is already dead. Best case scenario is that stuff is just drawing too much power

Ok this might sound strange but I once had the same problem. My dad works at IBM and he told me to use a hairdryer to heat it up. I thought it was worth giving a try and it booted up without problems. Google it if you don't believe me.
