Questions about a Russian SKS?

We were offered to buy a Russian SKS (WW2 Era) in decent condition. We have little knowledge about the gun, but knowing it's Russian we'll probably get mixed answers. But here goes.

$235 for the gun in good condition, and 100 rounds of ammo. Anyone know if this is a good deal?

We're in the market for a relatively cheap defense rifle, which is why we were offered. If you have any other ideas, feel free to mention it.

Yes take it or i will! Russian sks's are much better quality then there clone counter parts. The russians mill there receivers leaving a stronger, better quality, longer lasting part. Besides the russians generally make high quality firearms and take pride in there work with small arms. Most clones go for $300-$350 and up and Russian ones go for $400 and up without extras. It would make an ok home defense firearm but the stripper clip would make it awkward while trying to reload in a confined space of a house.

Your spending 200 on the gun 35 on the ammo. Its not really a bad price for (if I'm correct) semi automatic 7.62x39 caliber rifle. Id get it personaly. Its like an old ak47 lol.

Source(s): I looked it up on Wikipedia btw.
