How dark is the average Arab's skin?
What is the usual skin tone for Arab people living on the Arab peninsular? I am designing characters based on a Laurence of Arabia like project. A lot of the models I'm using are of Arab descent and are fairly pale skinned but they are models and I hear that pale skin is considered attractive but does not necessarily represent the average person (someone told me it is due to Arab's wanting to differentiate themselves from the descenders of freed African slaves). So what is the skin tone of the average Arab person? Would you say olive skinned, light brown, brown? Is there quite a big variance from person to person or is it relatively homogeneous? Because Arab's cover up so much (especially women) my research is hindered a bit.

It's very different, It varies for example Lebanese and Syrians you'll find a lot of them who are white skinned while countries like Tunis Algeria and Morocco (In the African continent) they look Caucasian and the ones near the gulf area for example Iran Kuwait Dubai etc...They're toned as in, from brown-white to brown-black
Egyptians on the other hand, if you're talking about Pharaohs they were white brown but now a days they're 85 million they've got all types of colors but majority are Caucasian

There are white Arabs: Osama Bin Laden, DJ Khaled, etc
There are Black/Brown Arabs: Omar Al Bashir etc
There are Red Arabs: Basically a white person who has been Arabinized
Then there are Mixed Arabs: Some European, sub-Saharan ancestry, and asian
Anyone who has gone to the process of "Arabization" would be considered "Arab". But back then, Most Arabs were dark-skinned, not pale.

With Arabs, there is no such thing. Arab isn't exactly a race... well, it's definitely not a skin color... being as though there are arabs with black skin, arabs with brown skin and arabs with white skin.
