God implies there is more than one God in Genesis 3:22?

Genesis 3:22

World English Bible

Yahweh God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he put forth his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever..."

King James Bible

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

New International Version (©1984)

And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

the usage of the word ''us'' implies there is more than one God unless God is a schizophrenic which would explain why he is talking to himself about Adam (or man)

but if there is more than one God, then God doesn't seem like a schizophrenic because he is talking to a different God/s about Adam (or man) and therefore very sain

or am i way off base ?

He was speaking to the other members of the Trinity. Then why does He ignore them for the rest of the Bible?

God was talking to the Angels...Um, Angels are not Gods.

Any thoughts?

He mentions other gods, often by name too.

    Baal, Moloch

After reading from the beginning of Chapter 3 it to me is describing the fall of man, where did the angels come from and other gods.

I try to follow Christ Jesus,he says study the word to show yourself approved before the father in heaven,

    2 Timothy 15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth

I read the old King James version and I trust my holy spirit to teach me all things, not all these books that are redone by man, We were instructed to never change or add to the word of God so why are they rewriting the bible over and over, I don't trust it

I also have a New NIV but I don't trust it because to much has changed and I really don't want to know mans way this is a big interference with what is holy, I trust Christ Jesus through my holy spirit.

If you read John 1:1 as it should read, (and the Word was >>a god. <<) you would have your answer. For in that we see that the Logos, Christ, was in the heavens before being sent to earth.

Here in John and other places it is revealed that none come to God except through Christ, that Christ was God's first and only direct creation. All other beings were created through this Logos in whom the full embodiment of God dwells.

To be short and exact! God, the Father, then gave his holy spirit to this Logos so that by this creative seed, all other things came to be. In this then, though the heavenly beings have no gender, the Logos functioned as a man's wife does. The man gives his seed to his wife by intercourse and the woman bears the children. Logos produced all of God's children by means of the seed of God, the holy spirit.

This is why the Logos in Isaiah 9:6 is called a mighty god. (small capital) He is a minor but exact copy of God, in which the full embodiment of God dwells (echo).

All beings who want to talk to God, the Father, angels or men alike, must go through this Logos to communicate with God.

In this then we have one God, the Almighty, but we also have a god, the mighty one, the Logos, through whom all have been born and all must go through to communicate with the Almighty.

The angels are not in that sense called gods; they are, however, called sons of God, the Almighty.

Hope your won't use this in a blasphemous manner.

    --------

See someone said it is the royal us.

The following is a conversation, and not a schizoid episode:

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Clearly, a conversation God was having with Logos, the one that functioned as his wife in the creative period. (remember no gender in heaven, it is a matter of function - temporary or not.)

Job 38:When the morning stars sang together

And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Shows that the angels (sons of God) were present when the earth and physical heavens were created.

John Calvin said that those who believe in the 'royal we' are mistaken and animalist in their belief.

Psalm 8:5 You also proceeded to make him a little less than godlike ones,* And with glory and splendor you then crowned him. ~ footnote:ʼelo·him′ is rendered “angels” (LXX); “godlike ones” (NW).

Since God is a spirit and the angels are spirits, with free choice they to are created in God's image and are rightly called 'god like' and according to John Calvin, both man and angels are rightly called gods. (commentary to John 10:, 34, 35)

God does have a team of Angels, but it could also be the way you perceive it. For example I could write" Me and you should go to the store", or " let us go to the store". Im not saying you are, but if you are basing your faith and belief in God upon a book of documented events between man and God, perhaps the problem is not with the book but with your relationship directly to God.

    Hmmm that's interesting~

As an outsider looking in, it's really weird how people scan the bible for passages they can give their own interpretations to lol. If you do that you are able to mould just about any prose to into something you agree with. That just makes everything seem kind of redundant, don't you think?

He might have been referring to the collective of the angels, archangels, and himself.

The other possibility is that it was translated using the formal royal language, where a king would refer to himself in the first person plural: "We are not amused."

  • ah. Its my hypothisis that he was talking to the others in the trinity. A conversation with himself of sorts.

The Mormons believe this and teach it regularly in Church and to those not of their faith. Perhaps you could ask them what they think or why they teach it as a doctrine of their Church.

Sounds right, and of course, you also have the ten commandments where he says something like thou shalt not worship other gods before me. " right?
