They are typically around the same percentage, so they will get you drunk equally fast. There is probably more variation in percentage with whiskey than with rum, so I would say to just check the label before buying it if you want the most bang for your buck. I get drunk faster off whiskey! but I like tequila better

Rums are Light, Gold, Spiced, Dark, Premium & “Overproof”. The last one has much higher than the standard 40% alcohol. Most of these overproof rums bear greater than 75%, in fact, and preparations of 151 to 160 proof occur commonly.

As for whiskey, there are several major types: Scotch whiskey, Irish whiskey, Canadian (rye) whiskey, American (corn) whiskey… In terms of “strength” whiskeys are between 40% to 60% alcohol.

As a general rule, all of the major distilled spirits are bottled at 80 proof; that goes for whiskey, gin, vodka, rum and tequila. There are, of course exceptions - barrel proof whiskey, overproof rum - but MOST of the time, 80 proof is standard, and will get you intoxicated at the exact same rate.

But why would you want to get intoxicated quickly? it's not a race, and much more fun if you do it slowly, not quickly.

Doing straight shots of Bacardi 151 will get you tore up super fast. So will drinking Jameson straight but I think the Bacardi works slightly quicker.

Don't mix your booze with anything, if you must have a chaser do either cold beer, tomato juice or plain water. With the beer you're risking a severe case of the technicolor yawns later on if you over do it but you're guaranteed to have less of a hangover the next day.

Avoid fried chicken and people who walk around with iguanas on their shoulders, and if it's below 40 degrees out keep your pants on no matter what. Do not approach any monkeys you see that are tied to the steering wheel of a car in a parking lot. Trust me on this.

Vodka. It mixes well into everything and you can't smell it. Bring some to the movies and pour it into your Big Gulp. By the time the movie is over you will be F'd up! LOL!
