Car audio setup opinion?
I decided to upgrade my Hyundai i30 sound system and looking for a mid-budget solution
My local audio guy recommended a mid-budget setup
1) leave the stock head-unit
2) add 4 channel amp
3) replace front door stock speakers with two good quality 6.5" components (morel)
4) add a 8" sub in a box
As I am a total ignorant in sound equip but appreciate good sound
and I feel like buying a sound system for my car is like buying a cat in a sack
I'll be happy to hear your opinion about it
Is it a good idea to upgrade the two front speakers and leave the two rare untouched? (budget)
Do someone have experience with such setup? any help is appreciated
Thanks
I can't have it all together as I don't have much to spare as the moment I am looking for a basic cost effective solution with a look to the future where I may do some more upgrades in the future when I have the cash (replace the head unit and replace the rare speakers to get better surround?!)
What are the limits of 8" sub comparing to 10" or 12"?

Morel speakers are not budget lol. they do have amazing sound quality much like Focal and Rainbow but they are much more expensive then say, polk audio which is deff budged but still sounds clear imo. if upgrading speakers, you should deff upgrade front and rear. a 4 channel amp will deff bring the speakers alive. after getting that installed, then decide on a second amp/ subwoofer. and please, dont buy any sony car audio products and dont go to bestbuy for install .

That depends what kind of music you listen to, and your prefence on bass. That system will sound good on the upper end but will lack on the low end as an 8 inch sub won't hit very hard. I would upgrade the head unit as it controls everything and gives your system more options and will probably give your speakers more power. Not as much as an amp but it should help. If you want a sub for bass then get a mono amp and match its rms with the subs rms wattage. It all depends on your budget but a head unit is the brain so I would start with that.

as a matter of fact, upgrading the front speakers are sometimes a good idea and sometimes do not matter, it really depends how good of quality they are and what not, u shouldnt need to touch the rear speakers because of the sub, but if your not looking for something to really pound that does sound like a good setup, and as for the head unit, u can leave it but a new one would definately sound better, and that would be where you would NEED to do the fronts do get optimum sound from it.

That is a decent head unit. And since the head unit is not a 'normal' DIN size, it would be difficult to put an aftermarket radio there and make it look good. I would also replace the rear speakers as well. Just my opinion.
