Register my car in my dads name?
Is it possible to register my corsa in my dads name and register him as the main driver and me as the second driving? Would it still be illegal? Or fronting?? Just want to know of its possible.
Also my dad has his own car.

If you're doing it to get cheaper insurance then yes it's illegal.
The insurance companies are usually quick to suss that Dad has suddenly bought some cheap old banger to put the kid's name onto, so you won't get away with it.

First point, your Dad can only use his earned no claim bonus on one car so if you resistered the Clio in his name he and got him to insure it he would get no ncb on the policy. Now it does not matter in whose name the car is registered, if the person applying for the policy and stating he will be the main driver is NOT the main driver and his young son or daughter is actually the main driver then the pair of you are fronting which is illegal. You will be obtaining a service by fraudulent means.
If you were to have an accident at say between 0730am to 0900am, or about 4.30pm to 6.30pm the insurers will immediately suspect that you were driving to or from work and are actually the main driver. They don't have to PROVE you are, if they have a reasonable suspician you are then they will void the policy leaving you uninsured. Which will be just the start of your troubles, and your fathers.

If the car is YOURS and YOU will be driving it the most, then this is still fronting, it's still illegal, it's still fraud (for which you and your dad can get a criminal conviction) and will cause you no end of problems for many years when you're caught. If he has his own car then it's pretty damn obvious that he's fronting for you so you have no chance.
Just don't. Dishonesty makes everything so expensive for everyone else, including you in the future, since you more than likely will not have any sort of NCD to use.
A lot of insurers are actually charging MORE for policies with a parent as the main driver now, since they're wise to this scam.

It has nothing to do with the registration of the car. It's down to who is the main driver. In my family we have three cars. I am the owner and registered keeper of all of them. I drive a Mondeo with my wife as a named driver. She drives an MX-5 with me as a named driver. My daughter drives a Micra with my wife and me as named drivers.
As your dad has his own car the insurance company will know you are the real main driver of the Corsa. It's fronting. It's illegal. It invalidates your insurance, but the insurance company will take your money until there's a problem. At that point they'll drop you like a stone and you (and your dad) will find it difficult and expensive to get insurance.

is it possible you are defrauding the insurance company to get a better rate? yes it is why? you want to go to jail. Your dad is no idiot he is not going to take the rap for you bending the car around a tree he was young once already. pay your bills like a man thats how it goes.

Definitely FRONTING and if Dad has any sense he will not decide to become a criminal

Its not illegal because ur name is in the insurance documents if ur an additional driver but people say its cheaper and i wish it was because I done a quote as my mum the main driver and im an additional driver and the prices are still sky high
