    From a player's or a fan's point of view:

WORLD CUP - Spain and Portugal. There would definitely be a festival feel to this tournament, as both countries are traditional footballing powers, and have fervent fans. Together, they have a population of around 62 million, and critical mass needed to stage a tournament. They also have excellent stadia (3 UEFA Elite stadia at least) thorough transport links, and are visitor friendly. They would be liberal in a way Qatar won't be, and have plenty of cultural attractions which fans and players could visit in between games. Just thinking like an English fan, they are also only an hour ahead of GMT, meaning that kick-off times would be very convenient. Special requests, evening games only in the 'hot' cities (Seville, Madrid, Zaragoza) and the final to be held in Barcelona because it is a much better city than Madrid, and the stadium is also bigger.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS - Greece. You don't need as many venues for a Euro, and I think Greece has 8 all around the country. They could get a special loan from the IMF in order to stage the tournament, develop stadia and transport links, and pay for security costs. They could stage them early in June, so as to avoid the peak of the Greek summer; and I don't think fans would object too much to hopping between a couple of island venues in order to watch some games. Staging the tournament here would bring a welcome economic boost to the country, and would also showcase it in a positive light, thus encouraging foreign investment. It would also encourage the tourist develop of the interior of the country, because behind the islands and Athens is a whole country which tends to get forgotten about.

I believe countries with great passion for the game are great hosts. Firstly I think England would be great hosts (slightly biased) but as far as passion goes for the game we are right up there. Also we have great great stadiums and facilities for countries. Also I think a country like Nigeria or somewhere like that because again they love football as a country so much and I think it would be a great host.

However I think this question is all about opinion and where people have been in the world.
