Diabetic Cat with Neuropathy?
Hello, I have a question regarding my diabetic cat.
First the facts:
My cat is male, neutered, roughly 8+ years old, a little over weight but he is also naturally a VERY large cat. His healthy weight would be around 19 lb and he is currently 22lb down from 25lb.
Last September when I moved away for school I left my cat in the sole care of my parents (where he and I lived our entire lives so no big changes there). Within days of me leaving he suddenly became very sick and was diagnosed with diabetes. This was thankfully resolved with insulin injections which quickly became unnecessary once he was stabilized. Since about last November (2011), we have now been controlling his diabetes strictly with diet, no insulin or other drugs at all. The vet still refers to him as a borderline diabetic.
He has never had any other health problems of any kind prior to this incident, besides a bad tooth and his weight which we’re still working on.
Unfortunately my cat also experienced Neuropathy in the back legs which have improved a little but not nearly as much as I would like. He can still climb the stairs and get up on my bed but he’s a lot slower and sometimes it takes him a few tried to get up. As I am still trying to shed a few lb off of him, being able to get him to exercise would be very beneficial!
So the Question!
I have read that giving diabetic cats methyl-B12 or Methylcyanocobalamin (think I might have that one wrong) can help to improve the affects of neuropathy. My concern with this is the length of time that has passed since this condition began? Would putting him on it now (7 months later) still help? I’m figuring it can’t hurt to try but I thought I would ask for advice first!
Also does anyone have any alternative suggestions that may help improve his legs? And does anyone have any advice as to the best/ cheapest means of obtaining the above mentioned supplements?
Thank you very much for your help!

Hi
I am an expert in feline diabetes and have worked with many people from accross the world helping them learn how to treat the diabetes correctly
Neiropathy is reversable usually with regulation. It isn't always though. B-12 can't hurt and cannot be overdosed Google and buy xobaline which is a form of metyhlcobalin b-12 It is not expensive
I would start 1 pill 2x a day crushed into the food
I am concerned about the terrm boderline diabetic. Can you write me tell me which insulin you used what food you feed and how the drinking and eating/peeing is going? If you test please send me your latest number
