Massachusetts Health Insurance Premiums highest in country?

I live in MA and i pay $14K a year for Tufts Health Insurance. BCBS of MA wanted nearly $20K. Is this just a preview of what's to come for the rest of the USA?

"The report by the Commonwealth Fund, a nonprofit health care foundation, showed that the average family premium for plans offered by employers in Massachusetts was $13,788 in 2008, 40 percent higher than in 2003. Over the same period, premiums nationwide rose an average of 33 percent."

"Now, the Commonwealth Fund report projects that without significant cost reforms, an annual family premium in Massachusetts will soar to $26,730 by 2020."

    would defeat the purpose of being free don't you think? Health insurance is a monopoly of choice. If they are going to mandate it then they should just provide it... Then again that's what they are trying to do. Sigh the system that fines people is only there to weaken the individual further and enable government from walking on you further. What about the poor who don't have jobs? What about people who have minimum wage jobs and don't have it? What about the hard working Americans who get laid off and have to pay out of there already diminished unemployment checks? I live in Mass where they fine people who don't have it and its funny how more of the middle class are heading into poverty. I hate big government and I hate fines. They are only there to generate revenue and that is what taxes are suppose to do. With more fines will come more money and more borrowing by our government. Some say apply for Mass health yet if you make 7.25 an hour and are single and only work thirty hours you are still 80% above the poverty rate. Is that fair? No and neither is government. We have too many high society people disconnected from the poor and middle class making the rules and that is why these laws lack any common sense or decency for fellow man.

    You reference an article that is 3 years old. I went to the website of The Commonwealth Fund and found some information you may find interesting here:

    http://www.commonwealthfund.org/usr_doc/site_docs/...

    This info shows that insurance premium costs have risen across the US at amazing rates, though not identical. Some of the highest rate increases have occurred across the southern tier of states, where incomes and costs of living are thought to be the lowest. Massachusetts premiums have actually risen less than the average.

    They were already highest in the nation considering it is a very expensive state to live in.

    But now premiums are decreasing.

    =====================

    New Report: Health Insurance Premiums Decrease in Massachusetts

    A new report by the nationally respected Commonwealth Fund shows that the cost of family health insurance premiums in Massachusetts declined by about 1 percent in 2010. To put this in a broader context, Massachusetts shed its distinction of having the highest premiums in the nation and dropped to ninth on the list.

    The report also considers the burden that health insurance premiums place on families, measuring those premiums as a percent of household income. The Commonwealth Fund report indicates that in Massachusetts, a family health insurance premium represents about 15 percent of median family income. This makes Massachusetts the third lowest in the nation (only New Jersey and Connecticut are lower).

    Oh, that's believable, $1,149 per month for health insurance. You're going to have to get used to it.

    The Affordable Care Act was passed by the House of Representative and by the Senate, signed into law by the sitting President of the United States, challenged and upheld by the United States Supreme Court. It’s the law.

    Get over it.

    Edit to Frank. Nice link.

    Ask your boss to pay you off the books, like an illegal alien, and go on medicaide.

    Then see if your doctor will still treat you, or if you have to go to the county clinic.
