A question for atheists: Does the scare factor exist for you in films like "The Omen" or "The Exorcist"?

Just wondering?

Haha, no. Their terribly amusing films.

Just because a movie is based on make-believe things does not mean it can't be enjoyable. One can enjoy a movie without thinking it is somehow tied to reality.

Most people learn the difference between fantasy and reality at a young age. I find people who think "The Omen" and "The Exorcist" are anything but fantasy rather sad.

In the Movie "The Exorcist" That actually happened to me 1 day after school back when i was a kid! And no body understood what happened until after the movie came out a few years later! I have several witnesses to!

They're just films. There's no reason to find them scary.I thought The Omen was kind of boring and The Exorcist was hilarious.

The Exorcist was so scary I never got passed the trailer lol. Atheist or Christian I don't like that movie. Now I'm a Christian and still don't like it. I just hate scary movies in general.

Like any film that intends to be scary, it was scary in its day. Then something with better special effects, etc comes along and the old stuff just looks nostalgic.

(BTW, smart people never get their truth from Hollywood.)

The atmosphere generated in those films provides the effect of scariness. That people were worried about their immortal souls in those films tells me that the writers were religious, and misguided.

Zero, until I realize how many people in the world believe those things are realistic and make critical decisions based on that belief.

not in the way you would probably think

the scare factor is the suspense, like if someone snuck up behind you and shouted
