Why is there such a fascination with My Little Pony?
And I don't mean just for young girls. I mean for teenagers and above.Even college age boys. There are so many MLP memes and such, and I just don't understand how this obsession and pop culture quirk came about.

Like many online phenomena, it started with wiseguys trying to score points on one another - specifically, wiseguys on 4chan. It got out of hand, memes were spread elsewhere, and the curious, wondering what this was all about, checked out the show. To their amazement, they found it watchable; some found it endearing.
Admittedly, not everyone came to MLP through memes; I owe my presence in the fandom to a college professor who would occasionally blog about it. But by then, critical mass had already been reached.
