My roommate and her boyfriend are splitting up as he is moving out of the country for a couple years and will be hard to get a hold of. They don't want to do the long distance thing. They've talked about this and agreed that this was best and everything, but that being said, my roommate is still distraught just at the prospect this oncoming problem that will be there in a couple days when he leaves... and I know it will only get worse once he actually does. She really likes him, and I know it will be difficult for her to move on.

How do I help her feel better and get her though this? I really want to be a good friend, and I know she's counting on me to be there to help, but I'm not sure what I need to do, exactly... I try to play the "romantic comedy funny single sidekick girl" but I can only do so much.

I am in need of one today.

They're just awkwardly snuggling on the couch and talking as if I'm not there. Yikes. I just want to cook my darn chicken and eat my dinner in peace without them being there, but I sort of can't leave. Creative, realistic, funny answers are all appreciated. I'm writing this as a stress reliever more than anything else. BLAH.

It just occurred to me how quickly this is coming up! I would think that it would still happen, but as I am not a New Yorker, it's hard to know.

I know that way back when, the Soviet Union did, and they were a Communist country. As for North Korea, I just have never paid attention before!

I have had long hair almost my entire life, and I really do like it, but it is getting lank and old and boring. As I am starting a new chapter in my life, I feel that now would be a good time to switch things up! However, deciding how to do that is my current predicament.

Right now, my hair is pretty long, with no bangs and no layers... Basically a blank canvas. I have a long, ovular and slightly heart-shaped face and a VERY long neck. I have a medium-sized forehead, too (if that matters...? Haha.).

Any suggestions on what to do with my hair? What's in right now? I have been thinking of going short, specifically a medium-length "bob", but I'm open to lots of things! Bangs, no bangs...? Anyway, thank you in advance! :D I am excited to hear new ideas.

I have terrible, unbearable cramps before and during my period, and my mother (who has endometriosis) believes I have the condition as well. When she was a teen, she went on birth control to manage the pain, and she thinks I should do the same.

However, I know you need to see some sort of special doctor for this to happen, and I am (really stupidly) afraid of going to the doctor, and this kind (a gynecologist, I think it's called?) is an unknown to me, which makes things worse.

Could someone please help fill in some of the unknown things for me? How do birth control pills work? Will my cramps stop? What happens at the gynecologist? Is there really a chance that I would be infertile? Help! I'm just very scared, and mostly I want to stop feeling like a dragon eats my guts every time I have a period. Thanks in advance!

I'm not a very picky eater, but I've never had the chance to try turnips, parsnips, beets or eggplants, and I'm curious what they taste like! I haven't much money to go out and buy them, so until I do I'll stick with this. (: Thanks!

And I don't mean just for young girls. I mean for teenagers and above.Even college age boys. There are so many MLP memes and such, and I just don't understand how this obsession and pop culture quirk came about.

On the Pottermore Insider blog, it said that CoS will be released to everybody "immediately after this 24 hour period". Would the 24 hour period currently be happening now? Or is it merely referring to an unspecified 24 hours when Chamber of Secrets will be released to the Slytherins?

I'm confused. Also, I don't know how to tell when they posted on the blog. Ayyy.

So many people talk about it on facebook. I know it's an online game thing, but I'm not really a gamer, so I have never attempted it, but I'm still curious.

I have very light skin and dark-ish arm hair. It doesn't bother me too much, but every once in a while, I wish that my arm hair was lighter. Is there a way to accomplish this? And if yes, how? Links, videos, photos, etc. would be wonderful! Thanks!

The captions normally include a good scenario described (i.e. "Wins free day at theme park") followed by a bad, ironic, (and yet funny) outcome (i.e. "Too short to ride any rides.")

My upper right arm muscle has had this on/off uncontrollable twitching all day long. It doesn't hurt, but it is just super annoying. It seems harmless, but I have no idea what it is, so there's no way to tell. If anyone knows anything about this thing, or has had it before, let me know. I'm mostly curious about what it is, but if anybody has anyway to get rid of it, please share that as well! Thanks!

All day long from all sorts of people, I have been hearing the same rumor that Taco Bell meat was discovered to not only be beef, but to also be from dog and cat meat, and that the restaurant was temporarily (or maybe permanently) closing. Icky.

So, naturally, I searched online for news about this, but there was none... Is this just a rumor that has been contained within my circle of people around me? Or is it a nationwide rumor started by some dummy? Or is it actually true, and the lack of news means that Taco Bell is trying to hush this up? The world may never know... BUT if you do know anything, let me know! Thanks!

My school has this fun tradition where different groups in the school do a music video with their seniors at the end of the year. I'm choir president, and I'm trying to find a fun song to do with the seniors!

Right now we're kind of stuck, because there haven't been any ideas that everyone loves. Hence why I'm on here looking for input/ fresh ideas. What we've thought of:

It's even worse because he's a friend, and I don't want to lose his friendship, but recently he's been hinting that plain ol' friendship isn't what he's wanting from me. He hasn't said anything directly, but I know for a fact from mutual friends that he does like me, and he's been hinting at it more and more recently. How do I stop this before it's too late??

He's a sweet kid, a little awkward sometimes, but nice. I like him a lot as a FRIEND, but his intentions are elsewhere. I am so afraid to hurt his feelings, so I just keep hoping it will wear off... Ack, help?!

I will get on facebook, or YouTube, or even just Yahoo answers (anything with a comment section), and I will see full on arguments between people who have never even met over the silliest little things, simply because they don't see 100% eye to eye on an issue.

They're not civil, mature discussions, either. These arguments contain profanities to the max, duragatory and vulgar names, and all sorts of downright degrading things. It honestly makes me very sad. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but bashing others because their opinion is different? I mean honestly! What is this world coming to? I thought the Internet was about progress, and this seems to be the opposite.

This is all disturbing, but the most disturbing thing of all is that nothing is being done about it. I'm not saying that we should limit the Internet and freedom of speech, but I do think some awareness should be spread. Please don't tell me I am alone on this. I'm not even an old lady crying about "kids these days!", I am a teenager.

It's close guy friend, and I really do like him... I would just ask myself, but we go to different schools, and I have a date for my school prom (Our schools' proms are on different days). Complicated. Ayyy.
