Why does my deck belt snap everytime I cut grass?

I have put three deck belts on my ariens 42" mower this season. I am getting ready to put my 4th belt on, what would cause the belt to break so much. Could a misaligned tensioner cause it. It calls for a 100.25" long belt, thats what I have used each time.

Something is miss aligned or one of the pulleys is not turning freely. I would remove the deck and see what is causing the problem. With that many belt replacements the problem should be obvious.

  • You need to balance the deck with a level. Put it on a flat surface, then adjust the level.

You might have it on incorrectly. Go to Arians web site and look up the diagram.
