Did anyone ever have a teacher who tried to teach religion at a public school?

    Yes. One day my seventh grade science teacher told us he was supposed to teach us about evolution at that point in the curriculum. He picked up his Bible and read the first two chapters of Genesis to the class. Closing it, he said, "That's all you need to know about evolution."

    Yes they are called religious education teachers. They teach all religions and cultural beliefs.

    In a comparative religions class, teaching religion is allowed.

    It is not allowed in other classes.

    Yes. In 1979 I had a 10th grade English teacher who liked to sprinkle doctrine into his lessons. He also used to tell us all about his little boy that they had named Obadiah, after the biblical prophet. (poor kid)

    No - it was strictly outlawed, as it should be.

    I hope lainiebs' teacher was fired on the spot.
