All the companies are doing this to everyone right now. It's getting worse and worse. Dish removed AMC a couple of months ago.
The contract expired, and Viacom wants a huge amount of money for their channels. DirecTV is willing to pay them a fair price but not what they are asking. That money would send our bills up. The way things are going these days, we don't want to turn around and see our bills increase, and DirecTV has managed to not show an increase in a couple of years.
The deal will get done, too much money on the table and Viacom can't afford not to have their shows on a provider with 20 million plus viewers.

Their contract is up with DirecTV and they want some $$$.
Back in the early 2000's ViacoN did the same thing to Dish.
Personally I'm on DTV's side. Dish never gave us other free channels as a replacement NOR a bill credit after negotiations were done.
I don't watch Viacom's channels a whole lot anyway.

they are doing this because directv wont pay the new viacom 30% price hike i am glad they standed up to viacom these price hikes is what make cable prices go up. Directv doesnt want to raise there price for there subscribers.

They had a contract with direct tv that just ended so now they must negotiate for a better deal. Fox just did that to but they came an agreement right befor FX andcompany were dropped.

I think because DIRECTV has the most TV customers. I know I'm pissed about it too

I think its because the contract is up with them but not dish. They will probably do it to dish too once the contract expires.

It's because the contract between the two is up and they couldn't agree on a new contract.
