Jehovah's Witnesses Are the Only Ones Who Preach?

No matter what facts they are presented with, Jehovah's Witnesses still insist that they, and they alone, are the only ones who do the preaching work set out by Jesus and therefore are the only real Christians in the world.

What will it take to finally put this myth to rest?

What does the bible say about how we should preach, what examples are given, and is knocking on doors the only acceptable way to preach?

How do mainstream non-JW denominations carry out preaching work? And why to JWs insist that their way is the only right way?

Update:

@Preston - Seriously? Jehovah's Witnesses make this claim CONSTANTLY. Do you live udner a rock? Or are you denying it now because it makes the organization look bad? Come on, at least be honest! But if you need one of many examples, please see Kawika's answer to this question:

Update 2:

Kawika - at this point, your posts resemble temper tantrums more than they do answers, filled with no facts of any kind - just assumptions, generalizations and unsubstantiated claims. As others have already pointed out, the Christians you mentioned are out preaching. Just not in the manner YOU want them to.

There are few things that need to be said about this:

1 - Anybody that has studied first century christianity knows that any preaching was not done, by visiting strangers door to door as JWs do today. First century christians visited people who they knew were receptive to the message. They visited them in their homes, ate with them and often stayed with them. It was really a social visit of spiritual encouragement.

2- Since Jesus was on earth, christianity was spread to the world, and converted billions of people. How this done? Did mankind need territories and preaching reports and organized arrangements?

3 - If organized preaching is more effective, then why do JWs only have 7 million members in 100 years of preaching? Even the mormons have double that number with much less preaching effort.

4 - If you are a JW look around you at the other JWs you know. How many of these came to be JWs because someone knocked on their door?? You will realize that likely you probably don't even know a single one. Most JWs are converted in the same manner as any other religion - informal witnessing and association with friends or family.

The fact is that this preaching is a colossal waste of time, which only server to generate money for th publishing company.

"Remember that Micah said that the people walking in the name of Jehovah would be the ones saying: “Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob.” Jehovah’s witnesses ARE THE ONLY ONES who are actively extending this invitation, dropping the spears and swords of carnal war to do this peaceful and life-giving work among the nations".

    Watchtower 9/1/51 page 528 paragraph 9

Some Jehovah's Witnesses are responding as such, "we are not the only ones....."

Well, you are mistaken. Your own magazine states otherwise.

Jehovah's Witnesses Are the Only Ones Who Preach?

Besides them the Mormons. Where are the METHODISTS? THE BORN AGAINS? PENTECOSTALS? Did I miss someone?

Matthew 28:19 Jesus instructions was crystal clear. Where would the disciple making take place? AT HOME? You talk about being honest yet you cannot measure up to your own standard.

The bible was clear that were suppose to follow Jesus. Jesus went to wherever people was to spread the good news. Again where are the Methodists? Born agains? Pentecostals? You are a Methodist right? What do you have to say on there behalf? BE HONEST.

You talk about trust worthy yet you can't measure up to it. THAT'S SAD.

Their claims go directly againts biblical teachings. They claim that every JW is called to be a preacher, while we are told in the bible that only a few are called to be teachers, apostles but most will be called to be others in the body of Christ.

To say all are to be preachers is against God's word and only non Christians like the JW's would make such a claim.

Source(s): Ephesians 4:11. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

Acts 5:42 "...And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news..."

Acts 20:20 "... I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house."

Matthew 13:11 and 28:19-20a "He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you

Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations."

The pattern of Jehovah's Witnesses fits this description among other verses. Yes Mormon's do preach also but I can't speak intelligently about if their method or pattern fits the scriptures in detail. I can say that I saw some young Mormon men preaching in my neighborhood while I was outside with my son. The entire time those 2 particular mormons (not sure if all are this way) didn't make an effort to really talk to anybody. It was warm and there were plenty of people out and about in the neighborhood walking and playing etc. (I lived in an apartment complex) They passed me up about 4-5 times along with many other people. My wife even asked "are they going to try to talk to anybody?" LIke I say I'm not sure if it was just those 2 but can you honestly say that you were passed up that many times by JW's and they didn't try to speak with you or your neighbors?

you're very ignorant to think of that. Many denominations hold forth the dominion of God no remember in case you like it or no longer. purely using fact they do no longer all bypass door to door does no longer mean that they do no longer seem to be spreading the understanding of God. There are different techniques you recognize. Edit: Excuse me! i understand what the dominion of God is thank you very plenty and that i do no longer choose you to tell me what I do and don't understand.

Mormons preach, everyone knows this, even JWs.

There's a whole list of reasons why JWs believe thay are the only real Christians. Not just preaching.

As a whole group of Christians, yes they are the only ones that take seriously the command to preach the good news !!

Not just with friends and relatives as some think it should be done, but as in the first century "from house to house, in the market place" in fact whereever we can we preach the good news of the kingdom.

This has to be done before the end will come, as Jesus said: "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." Matt 24:14

As 1 Tim 4:16 says "" Pay constant attention to yourself and to your teaching. Stay by these things, for by doing this you will save both yourself and those who listen to you."

So we teach other about the kingdom so that they to may be saved, it is a matter of life and death, so each one of us do well to ask, " when was the last time I taught people about the Kingdom and about Jehovah's dear son Jesus Christ ??

No they are the only ones who brag about their preaching

They are the only ones who legalistically require you to document and report back to the Tower every breath you utter about Jehovah to an unsuspecting stranger

all Christians spread the Gospel. Mostly in a natural conversational way daily. They do not set out 2 hours every Saturday to dutifully cram their message to those in their homes trying to have some peaceful down time with their families

70% of Witness children leave the religion when they are old enough to vote with their feet. Maybe the Witnesses are missing a ministry at home and should stay there because if they can't even get their own children to remain in the religion what business do they have instructing strangers?

They are the only ones that preach their brand of false religion, false prophesy, false doctrines, false baptismal regulations.

    They are false preachers.

True Christians are led by, and taught by the Holy Spirit, provided to them by Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses are false take-offs from the first-century methods of preaching. Jesus said; "Do not be transferring from house to house".

We Christians are preaching a resurrected Flesh and Bone Christ, raised BY the Spirit, and this is a bodily resurrection.

Jehovah's Witnesses preach a spirit-materialized, "Angel-Jesus", against the very words of Christ Himself.

    Take your pick.

And just like Gary, they believe they "control" the theocracy of the Bible.

It is this arrogance that will be their end, for as satan himself knows, "Pride goeth before a Fall".

And Smiling Don, you do not preach out of love of God and neighbor, you preach out of fear of not compiling enough works to be saved.

You MUST preach, by hours per month, by rote, by card, by magazine...Love is not upon the tablets of Jehovah's Witness hearts, it is on paper tablets.
