How to hydrate your pet in its sherpa while on-board a plane?

I'll be flying from Beijing to LA which is about a 13 hour flight. My cat will fly with me in the cabin. I would like to buy a soft sherpa carrier (like this one: http://www.petco.com/product/2615/The-Original-She... but I don't know how to provide her adequate food and water without A) opening the carrier on the flight and B) having it spill everywhere.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this that they can share with me? Thank you!

I'll be flying United Airlines, if it makes any difference.

    I know nothing about pets but perhaps a baby bottle?
