If you atheist don't believe in a god............?

Or the existence of a god. Then why do you atheist feel the need to believe there isn't a God?. In other words.

If atheist don't believe a god exist, then why do they need to be atheist to believe that there is no God. Its just a name.

And why must atheist belong to a group. if they are free thinkers?. And why must they convince them self to believe in a non-belief. If their belief has nothing to believe in , to be true?

"If you atheist don't believe in a god............?

Or the existence of a god. Then why do you atheist feel the need to believe there isn't a God?"

Personally I'd say I don't so much believe there isn't at least one god, I just see no reason to believe there is. I am not convinced by your claims. I'm sure you can see the difference.

"If atheist don't believe a god exist, then why do they need to be atheist to believe that there is no God. Its just a name."

It's not that I'm an atheist so do not believe, it's I don't believe so that word fits. There are atheists out there who do not like to label themselves as such, but at the end of the day they still are, in the same way those who "Believe in Christ not Christianity/religion." still are Christians by the definition if the word and believe in a religion by the definition of the word whether they want to admit it or not.

"And why must atheist belong to a group. if they are free thinkers?"

Some of us belong to atheist groups, the vast majority do not. Atheism is not a group, but a description of a stance on the existence claims of deities. The same way theists are not all one group, but just people who all happen to believe in at least one deities existence.

"And why must they convince them self to believe in a non-belief. If their belief has nothing to believe in , to be true?"

No. Sorry just no. I am not an atheist so am not convinced, I'm not convinced so I'm an atheist. Again I'm sure you can see the difference.

You're not going to win this one, bro. Some people don't care about belonging to a group or what others think of them or call them. The word is a convenient way of expressing non-belief. That's all.

You do have a point in that there are those who want to belong to a group. I recently saw a Facebook post about an atheist group to the effect "Join if you prefer to think for yourself." Oh, the irony of that.

Anyway, these are people seeking to belong to a group, perhaps a rebellious group. These are also often people who are every bit as adamant as "religious freaks" about their non-belief, yet rely on pseudo-scholarship when taking jabs at people of faith. Oh, the irony in that, too.

Truthfully, agnostics are actually atheist as well, at least in the way most people use the term agnostic. They are holding out, and neither believe nor disbelieve in God. The lack of belief is all you need to be an atheist. And they have that. Some call it "weak atheism". As opposed to "strong atheism" where you actively believe there is not a god.

Atheists "belong" to a group like non-smokers "belong" to a group. In other words, it's a response to the actions of others.

You are making up a lot of unfounded statements. I'm not interested in addressing every misconception you have, but I will ask you to realize that you are making assumptions and believing what you have been told rather than asking for facts and truth about atheists who are simply saying, as I do, "Prove your claim and you will convince me." And if you cannot do that to a minimum standard, then it is not for you to say that you are right and I am wrong.

Those two things are exactly the same. Not believing in a god means you believe there ain't one. You're just changing the order of the words.

And what group? I mean there are a few that are basically political action groups, but only a small percentage of us are even in one. I'm not.

"atheist" is simply the word used to describe the lack of belief in a diety. Atheist's aren't part of some group.

  • For much the same reason I feel the need to believe there are no leprechauns.

And the only reason atheism is even a thing and not the standard is that there are so many of you lunatics around.

Atheists don't organize themselves into a group. It's just a label for what their beliefs are.

That didn't make any sense. We don't believe in any gods. Period.

We don't belong to a group. "Organized atheism" is a figment of the religious imagination.

    ...your sentence makes no sense.

Essentially you just asked "Why do you feel the need to not collect stamps if you don't collect stamps. If you don't collect stamps then why do you need to not be a stamp collector?"

Its simply a description of me, meaning I don't believe in god. You could also describe me as male. Or not a stamp collector, I guess.
