Calorie counting help?

I have been counting the calories I eat for a long time - most of this period being when I was losing weight. However, I have recently wondered: if the amount of exercise I do varies per day, should I:

- eat the amount I have burned on that particular day

OR

- average the amount I burn each day, eat the same amount each day, therefore having either calories left over (on more active days) or eating more food (on less active days) than required.

Please help?

Don't over think things! Just consistantly eat the same number of calories each day and only adjust if you stop making progress.
