Hearing aid problems please help?

I'm 17 and I wear a hearing aid in my left ear. The hearing loss fluctuates. When I was born, I had a tumor in my ear. It was removed when I was in kindergarten and I have usually read lips to get by. Well, in high school that does not fly. When the dr removed the tumor it was done so through the canal and by removing my eardrum and taking out the tumor and putting my eardrum back. I have tubes because the eardrum will collapse of not because it does not circulate properly or something like that. Well, I have a custom mold for my hearing aid which wraps around my ear but I have the smallest tube available and it is still a little too big. (I have small ears) I dislike wearing it though because it hurts my ear when I wear it and I have a little cyst or red bump that pops up after I start wearing it and it is painful. My audiologist sanded it down for me but it did not help. I have not really worn my hearing aid because it's summer and I'm not going to wear it if it's uncomfortable if I don't don't have to. Once my mom gets the hospital where I got my hearing aid from paid off, we are thinking about getting me an in the canal hearing aid. I'm wondering if the problem will persist with the cyst or the hurting from wearing it. School is coming up and I'm going to have to wear it again and I'm dreading it but I need it. What can I do until I get another one? P.S. when I first got it the audiologist said it may be uncomfortable at first and that I would get used to it and that is why I did not trade it in for a different one. Please help! Thank you!

You don't say how severe your hearing loss is but if you find that your BTE is causing a problem have you discussed whether getting an ITE aid might give a suitable alternative?

    Source(s): I wear BTEs too
