HUGE AFROTC question!!! help?
So, I'm starting AFROTC this upcoming fall doing the 4-year program (starting my sophomore year systems engineering major) I want to be either a pilot or dev. engineer in the AF. So the plan is, do AFROTC, and delay my undergrad degree my "senior" year and take classes towards my masters, so I can finish the 4 year program .
Question 1, am I allowed to purposely delay my undergrad a year, by just not taking that final class required for graduation?
My question is,
Is there a way, that, after Field training, I can possibly just apply to OTS instead of finishing that last year of AFROTC and finish my degree in 3 years like im supposed to? and, if I do wait and contract through AFROTC and possibly get that pilot slot, if it's possible to apply to OTS at that point, do I keep that pilot slot?
I know these are questions for my counselor, and possibly det. commander, but my college counselor is never much help outside of scheduling me for classes =\

Why the heck would you wanna apply for OTS after going through field training? That literally makes no sense.
Like you said, talk to your commander. He'll have answers specifically for you. I do know some people who have gotten their masters while in AFROTC still, but I'm not sure exactly how they did it. I am not really sure if you can purposely delay your graduation. I do know that, as long as it's part of your plan, you can take a total of five years to graduate and the AFROTC cadre won't care, as long as they knew. You'll still go through field training with everyone else in your class, but you'll stay three years after FT instead of two.
As for the OTS stuff, forget it. I don't really get why you'd wanna do that. There's no point in doing 80% of your AFROTC training and then essentially starting over at OTS.
