Car leaking antifreeze, temperature gage past hot. help!?
This is long, but I'm explaining how it all happened. Please read.
I bought a 1989 honda accord. Older than I am! Anyway, all was working fine but then this cop was going to give me a ticket cuz' I pulled in front of my house in the wrong direction. Anyway, so I went up my neighbor's driveway and didn't realize how steep it was and heard a louder than normal thud on my car as I backed up to change directions.
Then, my car steamed a little, a ton of fluid came from the bottom, and some people I had look at it nearby dismissed it as air conditioning. After all, it was 105 degrees out. Time went on and I was driving home from work one day and my heat gage went nearly to the H, past the top of the red. I was about 5 minutes from home so I was careful and parked flat.
My dad and I checked it out, and my antifreeze fluids were completely out. We filled it with lots of water for the time being but we can't figure out what's wrong and what is allowing so much leakage. We checked the alternator (don't really know much about cars, sorry if I misspell or missay). We also checked the tubes and other stuff. Nw, it leaks a little, but enough to make a difference over time. I have to fill the fluids before each drive
The only thing we could guess is that I wedged some piece somewhere that led to a leak when I possibly pushed my cover up when hitting the bottom of a steep driveway. There's a tiny piece toward the bottom right corner that could possibly be it, but that may be of no help.
Any ideas? I'm a teenagers paying for my own car, and hopefully it's not too expensive to fix. I heard it'd be about $100 just to figure out what's wrong! I only paid about $1,000 for the car and it was fine until I hit the bottom of my neighbor's driveway. :( Help anyone??
oops! I sad alterarator. I meant to say he's checked the radiator. Or at least, most of it.

It is very important that you don,t let it run hot you will ruin the engin. the fact that the car is so old that you might have some frame rot that let the frame push on the bottom of the radeator when you bottomed out. you can do a temp fix using stop leak the pellet type this may work but this is not a perminant fix. you need to go to a salvage yard and see if you can find a rad. that will fit your car. If not a new one can be bought I believe for around 100.$$

You either busted the radiator or have a blown out hose. Find the leak have the car running and up to temp, and look under it and under the hood, if you have to add water that much you will see the leak find it and you have found the problem.
If it is the radiator it will be considerably more than 100 bucks just in parts, not to mention labor.
By the way the alternator has absolutely nothing to do with your leak NOTHING! The radiator hoses are the largest ones under the hood, and typically there are two of them a lower one and an upper one.

fill the car with water. Then turn the car on and with the car on, look under the car to see where it is leaking. Look carefully all around the radiator. Also check around the hoses that lead to and from the radiator. replacing the radiator will not be cheap. Replacing a hose should cost no more than $20 if you do it yourself.

Good your auto is leaking antifreeze in view that there is a hole someplace, unfastened clamp, or a seal is unhealthy your temp gauge is jogging sizzling since of this (lack of strain) and because it are not able to get ample coolant to your engine in time to chill it down, discover the place it can be leaking from, substitute or repair it, burp your coolant approach and refill your system and also you wont be going for walks hot anymore. It also might be a bad thermostat thats causing an excessive amount of pressure and your lines are releasing the pressure anyplace they are able to.

Sounds like you ripped a hole In something. Of you can figure out what it is, buy a replacement part and fix it yourselfs (saves money) or take it to a mechanic and have them fix it (could cost between $500-$2,000).. Ouch...
