Why doesn't my ASUS G74Sx transmit sound through an HDMI cable?

No matter which monitor or cable or tried, my computer will only transmit video from its HDMI port. I've even tried the same cables and TV's on different computers, and they all transmit sound. Am I just missing something really obvious, or should I go to Geek Squad?

Have you enabled digital audio and HDMI out in the sound control panel, and selected HDMI as the default source?

HDMI is picture only. Doesnt transmit the sound. All you need is something to convert MINI (your headphone jack) into whatever the sound input is on your TV (most likely RCA red/white). If it helps any, these adapters and cables can usually be found at any electronics store or guitar supply store. Hope this helps!
