Why do christians need to go to a priest to repent?

YES...THEY CAN AND DO GO DIRECTLY TO JESUS!!

THEY DON'T NEED A PRIEST! THAT IS A MAN-MADE LIE!

NO MAN WILL RECEIVE FORGIVENESS UNLESS THEY DO GO THROUGH JESUS!! 1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is ONE GOD, and ONE MEDIATOR between GOD and MEN, the MAN CHRIST JESUS; 6 Who GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOM FOR ALL, to be testified in due time.

1 Timothy 6:3 If ANY MAN TEACH OTHERWISE, and CONSENT NOT to WHOLESOME words, even the words of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, and to the doctrine which is ACCORDING to GODLINESS; (THE STANDARD IS GODLINESS)

John 3:18 He that BELIEVETH ON HIM IS NOT CONDEMNED: but HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT is CONDEMNED ALREADY, because HE HATH NOT BELIEVED IN THE NAME OF THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD.

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall SEEK ME, and FIND ME, when YE SHALL SEARCH for ME with ALL YOUR HEART.

THE PROMISE IS THAT WE WILL FIND JESUS!! THE CONTINGENCY IS THAT IT HAS TO BE "ALL OF OUR HEART"!!!! Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but IF ANY MAN DRAW BACK, MY SOUL SHALL HAVE NO PLEASURE IN HIM.

"ALL OF HEART" = EMPTIED, TOTAL SURRENDER, SEEING OUR NEED, BROKEN HEARTED

"DRAW BACK = NOT FULLY EMPTIED, NOT TOTALLY SURRENDERED, DOESN'T SEE NEED OF A SAVOIR, NOT BROKEN HEARTED

THE PROMISE HERE IS THAT IF SOMEONE DOES EMPTY THEMSELVES, JESUS WILL FILL THEM!! Acts 17:27 That they should SEEK THE LORD, if HAPLY they might FEEL AFTER HIM, and FIND HIM, though HE BE NOT FAR FROM EVERY ONE OF US:

Mathew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of YOUR UNBELIEF: for verily I SAY UNTO YOU, If YE HAVE FAITH AS A GRAIN OF MUSTARD SEED (very small), ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE UNTO YOU.

WHEN SOMEONE DOES RECEIVE A NEW HEART, IT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT IS NOW SPEAKING FOR YOU, TO GOD.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was NOT WITH ENTICING WORDS OF MAN'S WISDOM, but IN DEMONSTRATION OF THE SPIRIT and OF POWER: 5 That YOUR FAITH SHOULD NOT STAND IN THE WISDOM OF MEN, but IN THE POWER OF GOD.

They don't. They go to God to repent. The Catholics do have the whole confession-to-a-priest thing, absolutely no idea why (though there is something in Scripture about confessing your sins to one another, it deosn't specify the elders of the church.*)

*"Elder" in the Greek is "presbuteros" which is where we get out English "presbyter" or "priest".

Actually, in Catholicism, the Priests are the intermediaries to god (a.k.a "Jesus). Normal people can not communicate with god.

Only the Priests that went through the "How to talk to deities" training can communicate with Jesus.

Jesus is our High Priest, and that's the only One we need.

Ancient traditions still hold strong, no matter how ridiculous.

Because they don't have the mental capacity to think for themselves.
