How do you explain all the infallible prophesies in the Bible?
For example:
Isaiah 19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
Even though the Canaanite language was never spoken in Egypt and is now a dead language, I'm sure that this prophesy was fulfilled if you interpret it right!
Another one could be:
Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Even though Damascus is still standing today with millions of people living in it, I'm sure this prophesy will come to pass some day!
You can't explain that.
So, atheists, how do you explain all of these?
Don't forget Matthew 24:34, among others, which states that Christ shall make his return before that generation passed. Even though that generation is long dead, I'm sure it was a metaphorical return.

You are wrong about your last statement - the word generation in the Greek is "Genea", which means a race or spawn. Jesus is referring to the Jewish people. How do you explain they retain their unique identity as a people group after being scattered around the world for almost 1900 years?
How do you explain they are returned to the Land of their Fathers, according to many prophecies in the Bible, beginning with Moses over 3500 years ago?
The other two prophecies remain to be fulfilled.
how do you explain this:

God states many times throughout the Bible that time means nothing to him - he says many times a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day
We cannot pinpoint exact times when prophecies will be fulfilled, only God knows that. None of the prophecies you quoted in Isaiah said they would happen at a certain time, it just said it would happen. Damascus WILL be trodden down and destroyed, it is starting to happen now.
We are now in the last days before Jesus will return....all the prophecies in the Bible that have not yet happened will be happening between now and when Jesus returns - and we are also not told exactly when it would happen, the word generation is a generalization. Jesus was talking about a future time.
When people die, we die, we have no memory and we do NOT go up to heaven, we have no immortal soul (those words are not in the Bible). Jesus himself also said no man has ascended to heaven except the Son of Man (himself).
So when the apostles died, they were dead, they will be raised when Jesus returns. This is what he meant by returning before the generation passed. The apostles next conciousness will be waking up when Jesus returns - so their "generation" has not passed.
The word generation is not even the correct word here. The Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek and translated into English by MEN - fallible men who can make mistakes. I have translated from French to English and I can tell you that sometimes there is a word that cannot be properly translated, so you choose the next best possible word, and even then it is not quite right. The word generation is probably not exactly the correct translation of the original Greek word - it is a word meaning some point in the future.

The Bible is infallible and complete. The spirit of God has written it. The standards of divine lifestyles and its dealings on human life is published within the Bible. But we'd like realistic implications and interpretations to the folks through the centuries and to the people of all languages, cultures and races. Jesus is the ultimate and ideal revelation to mankind about God's will. However the perception varies from Japan to the united states, from Africa to Norway. Interpretation varies from India to Jamaica. Gentle expand revelation after revelation. We acquire an extraordinarily greater gentle and revelation of the phrase in these days than what we bought from the time of Luther and Calvin. The Spirit of God is moving by means of the flip of time with the modified minds and the sunshine increases within the church. I mean the devoted church. Yet, the written Bible stays the same and no have to change it. It's sealed and infallible. As written within the closing verses of the final e-book of the Bible(Rev.22.18,19) If any one takes faraway from the words of the booklet of this prophesy God will get rid of his part from the tree of existence and the Holy city. If any one add to this scriptures God will add to him the plagues which are written in this guide. We will say that The words of the Bible are flowers and what we acquire as prophesy or interpretation are fragrance and nectar. The flower is not modified.
