fastest way to travel from KL to Koh phagan by land or sea and how much will it cost?

Since you said by land or sea to me that means you don't want to fly. By land I would say by bus or van with the van being the fastest and more money but they have limited if any room for luggage. The trains in Thailand are extremely slow and in some areas even need to stop to let another train go by. Once you get to Surat Thani is when you will travel by sea to be exact a Ferry. I don't know the cost but you can always use 1 baht per Km on an average for any 32 or 24 passenger bus the van being cheaper 250 to 350 baht.

Did you purposely leave out air travel? Cause AirAsia will fly KL to Penang in an hour for a small fee then you can catch a van/mini bus to Koh Phagan
