Do previous experience with the Federal government help or hurt chances getting a job in the Postal Service?

I have had a job with the U.S. Census Bureau and I was wondering if it will help me get a job with the Postal Service. I know they take Veterans Points, but do they take previous government experience into consideration?

I would have thought any previous job with the government would have been in your favour. I would suggest that you base you application around the person specification required for the job you are applying for, and draw upon all your experience to demonstrate you have the transferable skills for that job. Skills are the thing employers value the most, but applicants talk about the least. Good luck!
