Intel i5 CPU at 98c ****!?

With an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro v2 & No Overclocking.

Sorry, dunno how this got in the laptop section, it should be PC & Desktops.

Update 2:

Fans are all working. Case is a Coolermaster Elite with 2 x 120mm fans.

Was getting 30c on idle and 60c on load overclocked to 4.4Ghz when built 4 Months ago. ???

No dust anywhere either. Looks like I'm gonna have to strip it down Dawwwwwwwwwwww.

    check to make sure the heatsink is on properly. the push pin heatsinks can sometimes give the appearance of being on properly while not.thats your best bet.

    if that doesn't help

    I would call the manufacturer if it's still under warranty and rma it.

    If you read Intel's warnings you would know they DO NOT RECOMMEND Overclocking.Period. If you want your system to run faster without Overclocking.it then install Linux, It runs 490 of the worlds top 500 fastest computers

    If your into Gamming then I would recommend you look at Commdore Disk 1 operating system and games is 4 gigabytes Disk 2 games is also 4 gigabyes

    Overclocking at 4.4Ghz?

    Most likely the heat may have caused problems with the thermal compound. Remove the heatsink and re-apply fresh, new compound.

    Simple solution in the future, don't overclock. OC always has its issues, eventually....

    Its either dead thermal compound, or your onboard thermometer is shot. Use an IR thermometer supposing you have one. Aim it at the base of the heat sync. If that reads the same, its thermal compound. Try to keep it off at that running temperature. You don't want bust a CPU.

    Are your fans even working? Blow them out with the canned air. I wouldn't even use your computer until it's fixed if you're running at 98c. That will fry it in no time.
