Can a kidney infection cause your stomach to bloat?
So on Friday night I went out drinking. I didn't have more than I normally have, and nothing that I don't normally drink. I woke up at about 11 and my stomach/ abdomen area felt tight, almost like hunger pains but I wasn't hungry at all. Later on in the afternoon my tummy just under my belly button started to bloat or swell, and this gradually moved up to the part of my abdomen between my breasts and belly button. I went to the emergency doctor straight away and gave her a urine sample which showed that I actually had a kidney infection. I've been put on a course of antibiotics, but I'm curious to know if my symptoms are typical of a kidney infection?
I haven't heard of anyone with a kidney infection that has had my symptoms, and this makes me a little worried in case the doctor has mis-diagnosed me.
Has anyone had these symptoms with a kidney infection before, or does anyone have any useful information about it? It would be greatly appreciated.
I am an 18 year old female and have never had any kidney, urinary or digestion problems before.
Thanks :)

Symptoms of kidney infection
The symptoms of acute kidney infection often develop quickly over a few hours or a day; and may include:
a high temperature (over 38°C)
shivering
pain in your lower back (may be only on one side)
feeling sick
vomiting
Around one in three people with acute kidney infection will also have symptoms of a bladder infection (cystitis or lower urinary tract infection, UTI). These symptoms may include:
a stinging or burning sensation on passing urine
the need to urinate more often than usual
the need to urinate urgently even if very little or no urine is passed
urine that is cloudy, dark coloured or has a strong smell
blood in urine
I'm sure the Dr's has got it right and you should see improvement with a few days, stay off the drink while on the Antibiotics, and hope you feel better soon.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
