I think the biblical hell is not an eternal place but the effect is eternal. basically, once one dies by eternal fire they can never again have life.

i dont beleive either choice anymore.

while torment in hell can seem like an eternity, sheol and the grave have an end in the resurrection.

its the lake of fire that gives resurrected man a second death.

and its outer darkness that may be eternal for those that no longer have access to the kingdom of God.

and the spirit does exist beyond the grave, there is something called the spirit prison see kjv peter 3:18-20

The Bible is actually VERY clear about what happens when we die. ... It always perplexes me that many Pastors teaching sounds more like "Dante's Inferno" than they do like the Scriptures.

    REGARDING "HELL".

What do think Hell really is?

Old Testament (Hebrew) - Sheol is just the grave.

New Testament (Greek) - Hades is just the grave.

    Hell is just the grave.

If you were taught that it is an eternal burning fire, stoked by Satan, please realize that the Bible says at Revelation 20:10, Revelation 20:13, 14, and Revelation 21:8 that Hades and Satan are both destroyed.

Verse 8 says that the "Lake Of Fire" is DEATH.

It says that ALL LIARS go there.

Satan IS a liar. John 8:44

    Satan DIES.

    The Bible says so !

No Satan+No Hades, means there is no eternal burning hellfire.

"eternal torment" is a false doctrine (God isn't that vicious). there will be a hell-fire but not for eternity. hell is the grave.

@guy below me, that scripture is referring to the lake of fire when the wicked will be destroyed. (the word "hell" from that scripture comes form the word Gehenna)

@ Guy below me, Lazarus was a parable to teach a point, hell-fire doesn't exist at the moment, not until the end of the world, NO one is suffering in flames right now.

Matthew 10:28; “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Luke 16:24 “And he cried out and said, ‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’
