Is $75 a week enough for a babysitter? We have one son who is 10.?

He is a pretty good kid. I need someone to watch him from 3-6p.m. on M-Th. I just need someone to make sure he is doing his homework completely, making sure his chores are done correctly, and then dropping him off at football or swimming or whatever he has going on. (which is all local) Oh, and maybe chopping a vegetable or 2 if I don't have any in the fridge cut up for my son as a snack.

Update:

We don't live in some expensive big city and we live in Ohio :)

Update 2:

Yeah I was thinking I should maybe up it to $25 a day with gas. I don't have a sitter yet, I just put my ad in the paper today. I'm hoping to start interviewing next week. I will only need my son dropped off at one thing a day. I would be in town soon after to be at practices etc. Darn commute always costing me more lol :) I figure I should get some calls from teenagers or someone wanting really part time work. Especially with us never needing weekends or Fridays. That should be a perk to teenagers lol

I see how you calculated this and well if it was just to watch him i would have said it's fair ,but see as you want this person to have a car and use her gas to charter him around . So if you have someone already then I think 100 would be fair. It's only 3 hours of minor work involved. So make sure you find a good person

Under the table $110/week. Taxed $150/week.

Most babysitters charge $10/hr. The job is harder than it seems, and requires a lot of energy. Maybe 150-175 will do it.

Source(s): I nannied 2 boys twice a week, and made $80 dollars for two 5 hour sessions
