God is good, but God is also holy, and must judge sinners. He has made provision for sinners through His Son Jesus Christ, who died for sinners; but the rebellious and self-willed sinner risk facing His judgment.
Jesus Christ, who died for sinners said this:
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. "
Luke 12:4-7
Source(s): Jesus said you MUST be born again to see or enter the Kingdom of God. When you become His child, the fear of punishment leaves. "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." I John 4:18 - Anonymous9 years ago
Believers are not to be scared of God. We have no reason to be scared of Him. We have His promise that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). We have His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Fearing God means having such a reverence for Him that it has a great impact on the way we live our lives. The fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe.

Our fear of God can be compared to the fear we of displeasing our parents. We are obedient to them because we love and respect them and we know that what they do and say and discipline us for is because they love us. It's the same with God. 1John 4:16-18 says that God is love and there is no need for morbid fear and dread.
Proper fear and respect of God as the creator of the universe is expected and deserved.(Revelation 4:11)

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
The word of God is an instruction manual on how to live forever in his kingdom. A fool hates the instruction manual.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Peace in Jesus name.

In the KJV, and especially the OT the word fear today means reverence. Our current definition of fear would be that fear and faith cannot exist in the same place.

Its simple. God is the balance scale of good and bad. In everyone`s life, everyone must suffer to an extent, so I think its the fear of how it will happen. I`ll just be afraid for whenever I have reason to be, whenever he aims the gun at me too. We need evil as much as we need good.

Fear of God does not mean being in dread of him. Fear of God involve not wanting to hurt him. It's a healthy fear of having his disapproval. For example, children seek to please their parents. Out of love they look for ways to gain their parents approval. The same is true for worshipers of Jehovah.

It is people, namely adults who instill the fear of god in other people, namely children ... in order to intimidate and control.
But fear in a fictional character is really pointless in the first place ... so it's really fear of yourself, or fear of the consequences of your actions that involved.

Because manipulating fearful humans is considerably easier.
Haven't you noticed a bit of a pattern in religion.
Thought that was fairly obvious to those who post on this board

prov 1 says the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom. our relationship to god begins as we move away from our sins that cause us fear of our condemnation. in christ. we are freed and we love god above all things for his love in our lives. but still there is a fear in the sense of not wanting to offend his grace and mercy that he has so graciously showed us. its not a paralyzing fear but a healthy respect for god who is our father just as children respect their fathers and dont want to disobey and break fellowship with the one who loves them above all else
