How much can a 300 Weatherby magnum be "loaded down"?

Question

I don't want to buy another rifle(I love my Mark V and can't afford a rifle of similar quality at this point in time) and want to hunt pigs in California.  300 WBY mag is too much for this but I was wondering if I could do some handloading and tone it down a bit, less meat damage and managed recoil.   So how far can I go without sacrificing accuracy and/or risk getting a bullet stuck in the bore?

Here are some reduced recoil rounds from Chuckhawks.
“.300 Weatherby Magnum - 150 grain Speer SP bullet, 29.0 grains of SR 4759 powder, CCI 250 primer, Rem. case. COL 3.560". MV 1970 fps in 26" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.)
.300 Weatherby Magnum - 180 grain Speer SP bullet, 35.0 grains of IMR 4198 powder, CCI 250 primer, Rem. case. COL 3.560". MV 1988 fps in 26" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.)

You should check other reloading manuals besides Speer for low recoil loads. I suggest Lyman's new 49th Edition Reloading Handbook. Go with lighter bullets for less recoil also, something like a 150gr bullet will do fine on a hog.

Wow, if the data BC gave it correct, that is quite impressive.  Loading a .300 Wby Mag down to .30-30 levels.  You should double check the data.

I don't know how big your pigs are out there, but my uncle hunted wild boars in Tennessee with the same rifle, a Mark 5 in .300 Weatherby.
