Trying to sell car with incomplete registration? (California)?
Long story short: I procrastinated registering this car when I bought it. Bad move, I know. It's in the past.
The car has broken down now, and I went to the DMV to register it to my name. I was able to pay all the fees, but need the car to be smogged to complete the registration. I can't smog it since it's broken down, and I have to wait another two months to register it as a non-op instead. The problem is: I'm moving in a month and can't wait to sell it.
I have the pink slip with all the old owners and my information it, along with an "Incomplete Application," and some sort of a receipt showing that I've paid off all the fees due, stapled to the pink slip by the DMV.
Is there a way I can still sell this car, even with this incomplete registration, using all the paperwork and information I have right now?
