    They're both cute. Ally is more of a girly nickname whereas AJ is a little more tomboyish. If this is for a child, you should wait and let her choose when she's old enough. If it's for you, just choose whichever feels right. I think Alana Jane is a very pretty name. Lana is another option for a nickname.

    When I think of Alana Jade I automatically think of the girl from Soul Surfer!

    You could also use,

    I personally think that Jane is WAY too overused. However I love the name Ally- very sweet :)
