Which political party is the right one for me to choose? And how do I know?
Okay I've been very confused on which political party to choose. i have no idea what to do. Basically, here's what I've gathered on both, and then I'll state my own opinions:
Republicans:
Support the wealthy, the Christian religion, and the rednecks. They love guns, religion, racism, and homophobia, although they also encourage people to work for their own money and help businesses.
Democrats:
Support the poor, the atheists, the lazy, and the unemployed. They like the environment, military restrictions, and taking money from rich people and giving it to lazy, unemployed college graduates who just don't feel like working.
Well, my family tends to align themselves with the Republican party (although we are not Rednecks, we're Hispanic, though we've all received our citizenship already). they are not, however, 100% Republican (we aren't Christina, my father is Atheist and my mother and I consider ourselves Agnostic). My father does, however, make around $600,000 a year, so we are fairly wealthy. My parents keep saying we should be able to spend that money since we earned it, but the democrats want to take it away and give it to lazy, unemployed 20-something year olds (That's how my parents put it).
I also agree with the Republican idea of Pro Life. I believe that, as a whole, abortion is wrong, although I do believe exceptions should be made in the case of rape or incest. I am not, however, Christian, and I disagree with the Republican party's loose gun-control laws. Please help me decide, I am not sure what to do. I myself am Hispanic-American, and Republicans seem kind of racist. However, I also disagree with a lot of the Democratic Party's ideas and representations. Even then, though, I'm only a teenager. I don't even know if I have all the facts on each party. Which one is best for me?

Rule #1 of choosing a party: Keep religion out of it. Seperation of church and state makes it so politics will not be placed in the danger of religion, so unless a candidate suggests they will use their religion in politics, don't worry about it.
Rule #2 of choosing a party: Don't. Support whichever candidate you feel holds your interests closer and appears to be more competent. Pay attention to which party tends to do what, for example Republicans holding their rich buddies closer than their electorate and Democrats tending to align with liberals who campaign for civil rights.
Rule #3: When it comes to politicians, expect dishonesty. Mitt Romney has flip-flopped on over 10 issues so far, among them being important campaign points such as abortion, gay rights, gun control, etc. Rely on honest news sources such as CNN for your information. Relying on Fox is generally not a good idea as they're just a biased wannabe news source. I hear MSNBC is that way, too, though clearly not as bad as they would be getting higher ratings like Fox (which is basically entertainment).
Rule #4: Watch out for hypocrisy in both parties. For example, Pro "life" candidates who complain their isn't enough freedom, while still insisting women shouldn't have the choice to abort. Inconsistency runs rampant in politics.
Rule #5: Keep an open mind. Your situation is not the same as everyone else's, and while something like gun control may seem unimportant to you, you may find yourself in a situation where your girlfriend is raped and needs to get an abortion, or a family member is shot by some nut who got their guns because regulation was not in effect.
Rule #6: Not all Republicans are money-grubbing corporate whores and I've not seen a single Democrat who wants to take your money out of the pure corrupt evil in their heart. Always keep in mind who they're trying to appease, rather than what they say they want to do. They're more likely to flip and keep to their constituents, and they are as follows:
Republicans - Millionares, Billionares, corporations, etc.
Democrats - Civil rights groups, charities, etc.
This is not the de-facto position of both parties, but they are more likely to pass favorable legislation to their constituents than joe schmoe voter. Also, keep in mind taxes =/= welfare. If all taxes went to the poor, there would be no poor.
Final rule: If the government was engaged in a national conspiracy to take away your rights, they'd have done it already. No amount of gun purchases can change the fact that a single police officer could probably take you down very easily, let alone the government. Don't give in to that paranoia.
Uneducated windbags will try and convince you that everyone in a party is the same. Just make observations rather than listening to biased opinions and take facts to formulate your own.

The Tea social gathering is a motion, not a political party. They're more often than not Republicans, however there is some thing to be mentioned about the Libertarians. I'd commonly register as a Libertarian in the event that they had been more recognized. Your affiliation is simplest relevent for a foremost election. In the primaries, all the Repubs (or dems, and many others.) run towards each different to come to a decision who will run in the general election towards the opposite events. For the overall elections in November, that you may vote for whoever you want.

You are not fairly wealthy, you are extreamly rich.
I agree, welfare should be reformed, but it has helped me, and others get back on their feet! Republicans don't encourage people to work for their own money, they give the rich taxes so they pay less taxes than the middle class. The only buisnesses they help are big buisness, not starting small buisness tht creates jobs in America. You can either choose to be a wealthy republican who spits on the poor, or you can have a heart. In my opinion, a bleeding heart is better than no heart. I hope you make the right choice, becuse you are very lucky and you have the ability to help a lot of people.

Educated people know that politics is a scam the same as religion. It doesn't matter who you chose or what religion you pick, all are evil and will screw you over. Why not believe in something real like science? It is the only thing that has ever benefited mankind.
It is stupid to believe that one political candidate is better than another.

All political parties are stupid. I suppose you would just be an independent.
