Do you believe that there is a such thing as not having a worthy opponent in the Olympics?

I came home and cut on the games and caught the first bit of Volleyball they are showing. One of the announcers made a comment about the coach of team USA saying they never underestimate their opponents or something along those lines. Then the other commentator(I apologize I do not know the name of the men) made a comment he must have been drinking something to think that everyone is a worthy opponent especially the Serbian team they are facing right now. I thought that was kind of messed up but my boyfriend seems to agree with this mindset o_O What do you think? I just feel that the Olympics have the highest caliber of athletes participating in the sports so that kind of comment I don't feel is true in this situation but I could be wrong.

Don't get me wrong, but that's exactly why I don't listen to US broadcasts or commentators.

Many (I agree, not all) just don't seem to get what the Olympics, sportsmanship, or being on a world stage is all about.

The comment was incredibly insulting and very boorish.

Saying that someone is a worthy opponent is like saying they are a challenge to play against. Its a compliment, saying they are good. What would be messed up is if he said they are not worthy, basically saying it would be a waste of time playing them because they are so bad. Everyone at the Olympics are worthy opponents because they had to qualify to get there and are all world class athletes.

NBC quite possibly has some of the worse commentary at times during these games so I wouldn't take anything one of the morons said to heart. I remember during the Bejing Olympics and team China was up during gymnastics the woman who was doing commentary said a completely snobby comment about the athlete I forgot what was said though.

The definition of an atheist is any individual who does not suppose in spooky stuff! This involves gods and devils and angels as good as ghosts. The supernatural can handiest ever be purported to exist. If it existed sincerely it might be normal and thus protected via a department of technological know-how.
