why don't christians understand the difference between free will and free choice?

if you did grasp the concepts you would realize that the fall of man in your mythology makes no sense. and thus, the whole bible collapses.

a story that makes no sense, is just that, a story. put it in the fiction section.

Update:

i have yet to hear a christian ever explain how a perfect being makes an evil choice.

we have no free will...these would be our god given natural inclinations. we have free choice to act in certain ways, but if our inclinations are in conflict with what is righteous then god is sadistic for torturing our psyche with this internal conflict.

we can remain internally tortured, or we can give in and become externally punished by god. god created a system where we had to pick our poison. a lose lose situation is not perfect!!!

First, I'm not sure what "evil choice" you're talking about.

Second, God defines goodness. God is good. Not the adjective good, the noun. Apart from God, there is no good and evil; what is like God is good, what is unlike him is evil. Just because you, who are not all-knowing, don't like something, doesn't mean it's evil. How would you define evil, anyway? If you're an atheist, you can't believe that life is anything more than chemical reactions in your brain. So what are these mystic forces of good and evil, and why should it matter to them if you're happy?

I'm a Christian, and I don't feel internally tortured or externally pushed. I know that God is my creator, and as such has the right to do whatever he wants with me. However, what he wants is to love us. He created us as his companions(though not his equals). He loves us, and he gave us the choice of weather or not to obey him(no external pushing there). In sin, we chose life away from him. Even after this betrayal, God still loves us, and is still working for our ultimate happiness.

God doesn't want you to go to Hell. But, if given the choice, wouldn't you rather be under your own authority somewhere not so nice than under the external pushing of a God you clearly believe to be controlling and, for lack of a better word, mean? It sure seams like you would.

Free Will and Choice is not the same....but Free Will allows us to make choices, where as without it, we would be choiceless.

We could have fourteen ice cream flavors in front of us, we then have to choose from fourteen flavors.

And we could also choose to not eat any of them....many choices.

We could choose to buy the ice cream and pay for it...or throw the ice cream on the floor, or at someone...or run out without paying for it.

    Many choices.

Free Will allows us to choose good or bad. Steal the ice cream and not pay for it, or to simply just pay for it.

It plays no part in our choice of flavors.

    --------------------

Free Will was given to us, to help us resist the influence of Satan....being a powerful ex angel, Satan has powers that are much more powerful then ours. But only in influencing. With our Free Will, we can say NO...and Satan is helpless.

That does NOT mean, that Satan cannot influence us. We can have weakened Wills, and so allow the deceptive Satan to influence us.

If we give in to Satan's influences, we will fall. Our only hope, it to remain strong, in our Faith, even with the continuous influx of information trying to prove Christianity is wrong. We must then, just struggle to keep our Faith by making it stronger.

A person in two feet of still water, does not fear drowning so much, so doesn't struggle at all. But one that is in a strong current, floating down stream... has to struggle a lot harder, to keep from drowning. That, is how Faith works...if someone lets faith go, when " the water is fast and strong", Faith is no good.

The world’s current sinful state is directly linked to choices made by Adam and Eve. God created mankind in His own image, and that included the ABILITY to choose.

The big bang was created by a singularity. There was no space/time before the big bang so no room for gravitational poles (look this up). So a singularity can't exist. A Christian knows more science than you man. Embarrassing. Thus, every science fact collapses.

if you really see you have no free will but are slaves to sin. What makes you desire things? just because your heart says you like something, what makes you like it? is it your free will? Why do people like this and other do not? what is that heart?

I know we have no free will because I love God and I can not be as holy as him and righteous no matter how hard I try, the sin in me will always over come. But unlike paul the disciple I will not except the fact I have to be a sinner and I want to be holy, to have many Christians say no one is holy but God, and they love him nailed up for their sins. I want to be holy and righteous, and follow the word of God to its full, but I can not, the sin in me will never make me holy. I can not by my own power. I need a Miracle and the hand of God on me to make me holy as Jesus and righteous. We HAVE NO FREE WILL, for if you did, if you were like me, and wanted to be holy as God and righteous, you will agree with me, you have no free will, but a evil force will make sure you are not like God.

It's not about freedom to do whatever one wants without consequence. But it is freedom to see the choices and the consequences and still choose.

God gave us the free will to ignore Him
