Atheists, is there reason you are here...?

...that you are actually not sure whether to believe in religion or not? Your obsession with religion and attacking on religious people is the proof that you are insecure about your own beliefs. Did I hit the nail on the head?

no I'm here because you guys need a hit in the head!

stop ringing door bells, trying to covert people that don't want it, stop trying to change laws to suit the flavor god you lick

if Christians and Muslims didn't keep shoving their crap at everyone..... I'd never speak up like I do.

by the way how deep is YOUR doubt ?

In some ways your comment from some point of views may be quite offensive. However, though I am not an atheist myself, the reason they are here is because: the fact that there's a huge lack of proof towards many religions. Also theres is no evidence of supernatural or abnormal events. Also through the past years technology has improved and the media is encouraging scientific theories/facts. Also not all atheists provoke havoc between religions. In-fact not many at all. Most just mind their own business. Sometimes a debate can be confused with an argument.

In conclusion, as there are many cultures and religions, the atheist 'culture' is just like any other. I hope this helped you.

I think yahoo answers should have four sections within the religious and spiritual section.

The first should be for those who have a belief in a main stream religion and God.

The second being the Atheist section for those who believe there is no such thing as God.

The third a section for those of us who have their own beliefs.

The last section should be where the debate is open for all comments by any party.

It is therefore the fault of yahoo these questions keep popping up. I would think even then, some will troll the other sections, but it should allow more questions to be posted to the desired audience without other people jumping in with opinions that are obviously unwanted and even at times insulting, or posting questions such as yours that do not understand why atheists actually feel religion is nonconstructive, and damaging not only to the individual but humanity too.

It's like an adrenaline rush that comes from Base Jumping or riding a really fast roller-coaster: an atheist questions (and often defames) a person of faith, a response (like yours) is made, and their hormone glands emit endorphins as a reward. Psychologically, it is probably no different a bully picking on a weak child: to reinforce a lingering self-esteem, a bully will berate and sometimes physically harm a weaker, more fragile child; then the chemical stimulants follow.

"is there reason you are here...?" Mostly to test my ability to stop and debunk fallacious claims (since religious claims are the prevalent forms available in wide variety).

"that you are actually not sure whether to believe in religion or not?" I seek the truth where ever it is. If, by some chance, I stumble across a religion that isn't full of sh!t (I've yet to find one), then I will accept and believe it.

"Your obsession with religion and attacking on religious people is the proof that you are insecure about your own beliefs." So your obsession with atheists and attacking their character is proof that you are insecure about your own beliefs. See what I did there? Yeah...

On a more serious note, I am more than willing to admit that I am not secure in my beliefs. That is because I value to the truth and finding it more than holding to a set of already accepted beliefs. Anyone, religious or otherwise, who claims security in their beliefs shows a lack of desire to know the truth, but stead a desire to hold onto their presuppositions irregardless of truth content.

"Did I hit the nail on the head?" I think you're about as close as a trolling question can get.

The reason that I am here is to discuss religion. Actually, being confident in my beliefs and using that to debate with folks like yourself is a sign that I'm not insecure about my beliefs.

You didn't even hit the house it was nailed to.

Actually, I'm here to find out why you make such generalizations? I don't attack religion or the religious. I also am not obsessed with religion. It's a shame you can't make the claim that you aren't obsessed with atheists, isn't it?

and so when christians ask atheists questions about what they are going to do when they die and how they will be going to hell and are nasty and arrogant - what do you call that?

I'm here because I find it to be one of the most laughable and amusing places on the internet. Take you, for example - I love reading things like what you posted - it makes me feel so much better to know that I am not like you.

By definition, all believers are insecure. Y'see, along with belief comes doubt. Since the misguided theists have thoughtlessly substituted belief for truth, there's exactly where the conflict begins within one's own soul.

I stopped "believing" a long time ago. But I substituted THINKING FOR MYSELF...a reall no-no for the so-called religious "faithful." Just check it out...thinking for onesself will get you booted out of any religion. To "belong," you must believe their particular dogma. Isn't that so?

Like the brilliant Joseph Campbell asks, "If God is really real, why would I need to believe?" Says it for me!

No, you kinda hit the nail pounding the pot calling the kettle black... Sounds more like you are obsessed with Atheism and attacking Atheists with your insecurities about them... If you were truly secure with your position, then you would not have posted your ad pretty much telling Atheists they don't belong on your planet...
